Does Simple Spam delete comments automatically?
Not by default. Every creator starts in Assist, where Simple Spam scores and organizes comments without changing YouTube. Protect is an explicit opt-in: you choose the confidence threshold and whether matching new comments are held for review or removed.
What happens when a comment is held for review?
YouTube hides it from viewers while it waits in your moderation queue. You can publish it again if it is legitimate. That makes holding the recommended Protect action for creators who want automation with a recovery path.
How is this different from a blocked-word list?
Blocked words look at one phrase in isolation. Simple Spam combines the comment with repeated posting, fuzzy wording, timing, distinct-account coordination, reply roles, links, and related activity to find campaigns that change their wording.
Will it work outside finance channels?
Yes. The detector covers patterns such as impersonation, giveaways, fake support, recovery scams, token promotion, off-platform contact, and repeated scripts. Creator feedback and channel-specific rules help tune edge cases without assuming every niche speaks the same way.
What access does the beta require?
You connect the Google account that owns the YouTube channel. Simple Spam uses the YouTube Data API to read comments and carry out only the moderation actions your mode allows. You can disconnect, revoke access, and request deletion of stored creator data.
Is this ready for every creator?
Not yet. Simple Spam is a limited, hands-on creator beta. Detection is already useful, but classification can be wrong and YouTube quotas can constrain very large channels. Beta creators should begin in Assist and review results before enabling Protect.
